When readers get in touch with me on social media (which, by the way, I LOVE), there’s one question I’m asked more often than any other. No, it’s not, “Where do you get your ideas from?” or, “Who would you choose to play your character in the movie?” – and, unfortunately, it’s not, “Can I buy the right to make the movie of your book?”
It’s “What’s the right order to read your books in?”
Now understandably there’s some confusion around this. The first of my novels to be published by Bookouture was Sorry Not Sorry, shortly followed by It’s Not You, It’s Him, and a few months after by Out With the Ex, In With The New.
But here’s the thing. Out With the Ex, In With the New was actually published way back in 2017 under the title The Truth About Gemma Grey. It introduces the world of the Daily Grind coffee shop in London’s hipster (is that even a thing any more?) enclave of Hackney, and a few of the characters who appear in the subsequent books.
So, to cut a long story short, if you do want to read the books in the order in which they were written, start with Out With the Ex, then move on to Sorry Not Sorry, then It’s Not You, It’s Him, and finish the kind-of series with No, We Can’t be Friends.
But all the books are written so they can be read as standalones; there might just be minor spoilers!
Just Saying introduces a new setting and a new cast of characters (although you might come across some familiar faces!), and Thank You, Next also takes place in the world of the Ginger Cat pub, which is located where I live, in South East London. There will be two more novels in this semi-series.
And as for my earlier books, all four of them (It Would be Wrong to Steal My Sister’s Boyfriend (Wouldn’t it?); A Groom With a View; Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire? and You Can’t Fall in Love With Your Ex (Can You?)) are all standalones, so read them in whatever order takes your fancy!
